Lonesome Dove Meets Breaking Bad

When an ambitious, but bored young farmer, John Bozeman, and a scrappy, gunslinger, William McKenzie, team up over the poker table in 1859 Georgia they embark on quest for riches that leads them to gamble their way across the West as a new country is about to plunge into civil war. The farmer's extraordinary drive and charismatic confidence leads the pair deep into Indian Country and a wild, beautiful western valley that will become his namesake, but this valley is not to be taken easily, and Bozeman is haunted by demons that neither his deep, loyal friendship to McKenzie, nor his life's true love can exorcize. In fighting to tame the land, Bozeman becomes embroiled in dark acts of violence and a cycle of revenge and greed, which lead ultimately to his murder on the banks of the Yellowstone River by a band of Blackfeet Indians.
This “based on history” series begins with America’s first gold rush in the heart of the Cherokee Nation and follows Bozeman and McKenzie, both wounded by great personal losses and tragedies, as they chase fame and fortune in the gold fields of what would become the territories and then states of Colorado and Montana. Gambling and fighting their way through Rocky Mountains, they find a pristine, gorgeous valley in the midst of Indian Country – a valley that Bozeman audaciously believes is his to claim and tame.
Bozeman’s superhuman bravery, charisma, and leadership propel him to become Montana Territory’s greatest ambassador as he leads wagon trains through the dangerous passes of the West, aided by his partner McKenzie, a tough gunslinger who saves John time and again, while John gives William a second chance at ambition and life's dreams. John falls in love with a Salish woman with whom he has a son, whom he adores -- but neither she nor William can save John from his unbridled greed and in the end his ambition will lead to his demise, but his town and legacy live on.
